Fireside Chat and Pitching Competition

A Fireside Chat and Pitching Competition took place with the Gambia Tech Project during this week-end The Fireside Chat was featuring Amie Jack who is a Microsoft product manager and Enulumi Co-founder, she provided insights into starting a startup in Africa and working with Microsoft to develop products and implementing ideas and projects. The Gambia Tech Project as a partners for this event, would like to congratulate all the Trailblazers who successfully pitch their Innovative ideas, most especially to the top 3 winners. After a tough process, the final list of winners are :

Global innovation meetup – Baobolong

Global Innovation Meetup 4.0 has officially kicked off! The Project manager of the Gambia Tech Project, Mr. Baboucarr .D. Coly, addressed participants and entrepreneurs during opening remarks, where he stated the importance of awareness and the key of access to opportunity for young Gambians.

Presenting the GIM (global innovation meetup) as a core event to expose and provide information about digitization and innovation in the rural areas, this edition in Baobolong will benefit 75 youths from the 18 communities of this area.

Global innovation meetup – Kunkilling

The Global Innovation Meetup 3rd edition took placed at Kunkilling (Janjanbureh), Panel discussion on Digital transformation and Innovation moderated by Abdou Karim Badjie Asst program manager Gambia Tech Project, Ozz Jaiteh CEO JO’s Design, Ousman M. Njie founder of Forward Enterprise, Leila & Aminata Drammeh Co-founder of Leilam Afrik Tours.

The key message from the panel was that people are the heart of innovation in companies, students were also urged to acquire digital skills to be able to leverage on opportunities available in the technologies space.

Global Entrepreneurship Week 2022 is on the way and we are celebrating with a whole day event to help you get those entrepreneurial cogs turning!

national gaming festival

The Gambia Gaming Festival is the first-ever festival of its kind that aims to celebrate Gaming and E-sport in the Gambia. The two-days event includes tournaments on FIFA, Call of Duty, PubG and Mortal Kombat.

A lot of fun and other competitions will be organised around games likes Subway Surfer, Temple Run, Candy Crush, Ludo and more.

ANIMATION & 3D PRINTING WORKSHOPS

Ending this week 19th March, 2022 with results and impact Today, Alliance Francaise de Banjul in partnership with Gambia Tech Project and Make3D Company Limited held the Animation and 3D printing workshops for kids from 7 to 15 years old.

WOMEN INNovaTION LAB

Gambia Tech Project in partnership with Alliance Française de Banjul in the commemoration of women’s day presents a “Women Innovation Lab” under the theme
“Harnessing the Power of women to drive innovation and Tech -Entrepreneurship”

The main object of the event is to give start-ups the opportunity and platform to discuss the power of women in tech and innovation. To celebrate women, the Gambia Tech Project decided to invite top women performers in the Tech and entrepreneurship ecosystem to talk to the audience about their journeys.

MaIDEN STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT OF THE INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM IN THE GAMBIA

The overall objective of the GAMBIA TECH Project maiden stakeholder engagement of the Innovative Ecosystem of The Gambia, centres on a one-day symposium to bring together actors and players within the innovation in the Gambia .

The symposium is an initiative of the GAMBIA TECH Club, created and supported from The GAMBIA TECH Project which is an initiative from the French Embassy in Dakar to support innovation in The Gambia under the auspices of the Alliance Francaise who oversees this two years project in the Gambia. Similar editions will be done every six months with veried thematic themes chosen by the Gambia Tech Club.

INNOVATION LAB + LAUNCHING OF CHOPSER APP

The innovation lab is a concept developed within The Gambia Tech Project to develop and support innovation through panel discussions and one – one meeting between entrepreneurs and key mentors. The idea is to help entrepreneurs to find the uniqueness or the innovation of their concept.

For this session held on 22nd January a support was given to the start up Chopser who wanted to launch their product into The Gambian Market.

cell network-TRIP TO FRANCE

For the Cell Network to Marseille (France) we took the start up HighTech (Digitalk) for an investment and networking event. During the trip, Anna S. Ndure had the chance to discover few French Tech entrepreneurs same as some interesting African partners. A mentor from the diaspora had been assigned to follow up and support the start up for are whole year coaching.

logo design competition

The Gambia Tech Project launched in April 2021 a logo competition for its official launching. To the call for application for the competition, 12 Designers have competed up to the final stage. The winner had been finally Ambo Studio who received a cash prize from the competition.

CELL NETWORK-trip to dakar

The CellNetwork is globally a networking
event serving as an exchanged program to linkup our Gambian entrepreneurs to French speaking
entrepreneurs and open
opportunities for business linkage
and cultural exchange. Different trips are taking place all over the year. For 2021, we did Dakar (Senegal) and Marseille (France).
